This Green Chile Sour Cream Dip turns out amazing every single time we make it! It’s cool, and creamy, and with several other ingredients you can elevate the flavor. This dip is something our kids can both eat, and it comes together super quick. It’s excellent on a bagel, with pita chips, or can be used as an appetizer on a small piece of crusty bread. YUM!

ELEVATIONS AND ADDITIONAL TIPS
I’ve mentioned this before, but if you enjoy the taste of fresh cilantro, go ahead and dive right in with that. It just adds an extra flavored layer that brings it up a notch!
You can also add a spoonful to the top of a small piece of crusty bread, spread them out on a platter, and you have an instant appetizer that everyone can enjoy. To spice it up a bit you can also add a sliced jalapeno, with or without the seeds, and don’t forget to put some diced ones in the mixture. It’s pretty versatile.
This dip can also be used for an easy snack by smearing it on a everything but the bagel seasoned bagel. However, if you just want to make a batch to watch the game, and eat with your favorite tortilla chips, there’ no shame there. We do it most all the time.
Dips like this are not recommended to freeze. Once thawed they lose flavor, and become gritty, or watery.

INGREDIENTS FOR GREEN CHILE SOUR CREAM DIP
Sour Cream: You can use a substitution like Greek yogurt if you wish, however it might change the consistency a little. We typically, just use sour cream.
Green Chilies: You can add more than the recipe calls for if you’d like, or you can add a little diced jalapeno to make it a little spicier. We usually always purchase a small flat of green chilies. They’re always good to have on hand to add to dips, soups, or stews.
Dry Onion Soup Mix: This recipe only calls for one packet, but these are always another great item to have more of in the panty. You can usually purchase a case of them at any club store. We use them a lot on a crockpot pot roast.
Minced Garlic: Fresh or from a jar works great and can also be stores in the fridge or panty for many other dished or appetizers.
Cilantro: (Optional) If you don’t like the taste, you can always leave it out. Fresh is always best, but we keep a little jar in the cupboard just in case. It never really tastes as good as fresh!

If you in a time crunch, chilling for a few hours works too, just give it a good stir before serving.
