Christmas Salad
We found this recipe for Christmas Salad in one of my grandmother’s old recipe collections. I’m guessing in that time period they exchanged recipes by using a typewriter to copy them down and then politely returning them. This is most likely from the 1940’s or 50’s, but it was and absolute joy to make. I will say that it is time consuming, and messy, but we fully intend to keep this one as a tradition in our house. I can even remember in the 80’s that various types of Jello salad were a staple in most households, and without warning they came in all different flavors and types. Below is the recipe that we used, but we did struggle and adjust before we got right. *Disclaimer – this recipe contains raw eggs.

This is an old recipe that we will definitely add to this time of year. It is quite extensive and a little messy, but it is so good too! Every once in a while, we cut back on recipes or create easy ones to save time, so that we spend more quality time together. However, this is one that all of us can enjoy together in the kitchen. If an old-fashioned Jello salad isn’t your thing, you can also try Applesauce Bread, Pineapple ,Cake, or Fall Fork Cookies. All easy recipes, and all great for this time of year. Merry Christmas!
