Cherry Moscow Mule

Cherry Moscow Mule

This cherry Moscow Mule recipe is just a little something that we came up with on our own. It’s definitely similar to the Moscow Mule, but it just adds a little simple cherry flavor. You can add grenadine if you wish, but at the time we didn’t have it, so we chose a different route. We’ve been making them this way ever since. If you love an original Moscow Mule, this has a slight cherry twist and still balances great with the lime and ginger beer.

Equipment

  • 2 Copper Moscow Mule Mugs Optional, but you can make these in any glass.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Cherry Vodka
  • 3 oz Ginger Beed
  • 3 oz Limeade or Lime Juice
  • 2-3 tbsp Maraschino Cherry Juice Add more for extra cherry flavor.
  • Sliced limes for garnish
  • 2-3 tbsp Maraschino Cherries with stems
  • Ice

Instructions

  • Fill one of the copper mugs to the rim with ice.
  • Next add all the ingredients and gently stir. Serve with lime slice on top, and a few cherries.

Notes

We use the cherry vodka and the maraschino cherry juice in place of the grenadine, because that’s what we had at the time.  Like many of our recipes, we use what we have without needing to buy more. Use what works best for you. If you do use the maraschino cherry juice, it tends to be a little less sweet.

Today, the Moscow Mule remains a staple in cocktail culture, spawning endless variations— including the Kentucky, Mexican, and the Irish Mule. These are not something that we have tried, but you try the Moscow Mule or the Cranberry Vodka Punch and explore even more options. However, you choose to them, please drink responsibly.

Swap vodka for bourbon (Kentucky)
Replace vodka with tequila (Mexican)
Use Irish whiskey instead of vodka (Irish)
