Cowboy Spread

A simple cool and a bit spicy dip to eat with crackers. It can also be used on a small piece of crusty bread. or a thick pita chip. Typically, a dip similar to this is served warm, but this is a better option for something a little cooler.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Chopped Pecans.
  • 2 tbsp. Butter
  • 16 oz. Cream Cheese
  • 2-3 tbsp. Red Pepper Flakes depending on your level of spice
  • 1 tbsp. Honey
  • ½ tsp. Garlic Powder
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • cup Green Onions sliced.
  • 5-6 oz. Dried Beef minced, or thinly sliced roast beef or ham.

Instructions

  • In a small skillet sauté the pecans and the butter and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, or you can use a stand mixer, combine remaining ingredients and mix well. Make sure not to over mix.
  • Last, fold in the toasted pecans and the butter, and thoroughly combine. Let it set chill for a few hours or overnight before serving.
  • *Optional - You can mix in the green onions, or you can slice them and sprinkle over the top. We opted to sprinkle them on top.

Notes

If you are not able to find Dried Beef, then you can use thinly sliced and minced ham or even roast beef.  Sometimes the store has it and sometimes it doesn't.  We also used the Carl Budding Beef in the meat sections and sliced it into really small pieces. That works great as well.
