Applesauce Bread
This is a simple bread recipe that adds a little apple flavor. It's also great for Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings.
- 1 Cup Applesauce plain
- 1 Egg
- 2 tsp Melted Butter
- 1 Cup Chopped Walnuts
- 2 cups Sifted Flour
- ¾ cups Sugar
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- ½ tsp Baking Soda
- 1-2 tbsp Vanilla
- 1 tsp Salt
- ½ Cup Shredded apple. Granny Smith apple works best but use what you like.
In a large bowl combine applesauce with the eggs and melted butter and mix.
Add in the Walnuts, Vanilla, and shredded apples.
Sift the flour and combine with the rest of the dry ingredients. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes to an hour. Checking periodically.
*Another option is to sift the flour into a small bowl and set aside. Then add the rest of the ingredients one by one. We use a stand mixer, so this works best for us, and it comes out just the same.
*If you would rather you can also sift the flour, set aside, and mix all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl. You can them use a hand mixer.
