Course Dessert

Equipment

  • 1 Grater
  • 1 5 x 9 loaf pan or close to it.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Applesauce plain
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 tsp Melted Butter
  • 1 Cup Chopped Walnuts
  • 2 cups Sifted Flour
  • ¾ cups Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • ½ tsp Baking Soda
  • 1-2 tbsp Vanilla
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ½ Cup Shredded apple. Granny Smith apple works best but use what you like.

Instructions

  • In a large bowl combine applesauce with the eggs and melted butter and mix.
  • Add in the Walnuts, Vanilla, and shredded apples.
  • Sift the flour and combine with the rest of the dry ingredients. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
  • Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes to an hour. Checking periodically.

Notes

*Another option is to sift the flour into a small bowl and set aside.  Then add the rest of the ingredients one by one.  We use a stand mixer, so this works best for us, and it comes out just the same.
*If you would rather you can also sift the flour, set aside, and mix all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl.  You can them use a hand mixer.
